* The complete Tourbillon rests in flexible springs to absorb any shocks.
* The third axis is synchronized with the minute hand, with each revolving one time per hour.
* The time setting turns the third tourbillon axis, so minute hand will rest synchronic with the third tourbillon axis.

Retailing at over 00, a used one is available on eBay right now starting very cheap. It will likely go for a few hundred dollars, though it will still certainly be a good value. This is a classic, and one of the finest all mechanical Seiko watches. More recent MarineMaster watches use Seiko Kinetic Direct Drive, or Spring Drive movements, not automatic mechanical movements (though the Seiko Prospex SBDB001 does have a newer GMT mechanical movement and costs over ,000). Check out this nice find.
The strap is rubber with an excellent folding and locking clasp. You do have to cut the strap for size though. The case is a large 45mm wide (and 17m thick which makes it thicker than the base T-57 model), but you have a domed sapphire crystal over the face along with a sapphire movement window. There you can see Tiffany's signature black rotor and the well decorated movement. Perlage polishing can be see on the movement from both sides, and looks particularly nice where applied on the face.
This new TheTimeTV video from HD3 featuring watch designer Fabrice Gonet offers a very interesting glimpse into the origin and philosophy behind HD3, and watch brands like it. The focus of the video is the pictured HD3 Bi-axial Tourbillon watch. This watch is important to me, because I had a similar idea for a watch like this in my head before I even knew that this watch was available. This involves the cylinder digital hour indicator, as well as the use of a dial for the minutes. The tourbillon displays the seconds, and its bi-axial rotation makes it an interesting novelty to look at. With only 11 pieces and a price about 0,000, you might ask yourself why watch novelties like this exist. In essence they are made for a very select, very well-off demographic.Read more ›
The bezel is a combination of many things. A couple of other Swiss Army watches, perhaps a little Breitling thrown in the mix. So many rotating diver's bezel have a look such as this that it is hard to decipher one specific source of the design. Swiss Army adds a bit of character by removing one alternating sections of girth on the first 15 minute scale as a method to more easily measure the first 15 minuted which is an important measurement for divers.

The functions are pretty useful, especially for someone in the wild. A sensor inside the watch measures barometric pressure and temperature. These are used for (of course) temperature readings, altitude, and weather predication (Meteo on the watch). As for the temperature function (Thermo), it is best to take the watch off for a minute for the best reading as it will be influenced by the heat of your wrist. There is also an electronic compass inside, which is one of the most useful features. There are also a few other functions that are important but less exciting; date, alarm, stopwatch (Chrono), and light (important, even though the hands are lume covered, but that won't help you in the dead of night). When the watch is in time mode, the time is displayed on the hands and in the LCD screen (that shows the seconds as well). I recall the first such watches that were analog-ditigal combos back in the 1980s that came from Casio.Read more ›
The difference between the two watches is orientation. Not THAT kind of orientation (anyone can wear them), but literally the way they are positioned. The Starcruiser is in a more vertical position with the crown pointed up, while the Sidewinder is turned on its side, with the dials stacked on each other and the crown pointed in toward your arm (assuming you are wearing the watch on your left wrist). Reading the time is based on looking at two conical gauges. One features the hours, while another features the minutes. Looking down at the hour cone you see a day/night indicator as the entire rotation of the hand takes 24 hours to make a full revolution. The adjacent cones features the minutes which can be read either on the side of the cone or looking from above. The watch doesn't have a dedicated seconds display, but really, is that what you are thinking about right now? You'll further appreciate knowing that the cones are made of solid pieces of sapphire crystal, which in case you were wondering is very hard to manufacture in these shapes.

Then you'll find a flat gray ring with the Roman numerals attached to it. There is also a date window (with nicely beveled edges) neatly included on this surface. Move in more and you'll see a lighter gray surface with a circular texturing that has the necessary text. "Tiffany & Co," and on mine "Certified Chronometer" above "Automatic." That lets you know that this watch has been sent to the Chronometer certification organization in Switzerland (as stated before, the watch also comes with the certificate), and that this version of the watch is not the lesser quartz model. I like everything about the dial and face. I've considered whether or not the darker gray area (where the Roman numeral are located) needed to be spruced up a bit, but then decided that the face would have looked to busy if that were the case.

Jean-Claude Andruet and Mademoiselle “Biche” won with their Alpine Renault A110 n°18. For the first time, a woman entered in the history of the rally as overall co-winner.
Inside you have the same ETA 2892-2 movement with a Dubois-Dupraz chronograph module. Bell & Ross made good use of the black colored date disc, which looks infinitely more classy than a white disc would look in this application. While the dial is technically flat, efforts are made to add some three dimensional qualities. The chronograph dials are inset a tad, which the number indicators are applied with so much luminant, they actually visibly pop up from the dial. Two screws at the top and bottom of the dial are functionally unnecessary, but add a nice industrial feel alluding to a quality of "function first" that Bell & Ross is know for.
